Commercial & Industrial Sound Insulation
Acoustiblok In The Field
Acoustiblok Inc. recently performed an acoustical assessment of offshore oil platforms at the request of a Fortune 100 oil company. Extremely high noise levels have become a great concern regarding health and safety of workers in this industry. The Acoustiblok All Weather Sound Panel will no doubt be part of our recommendation as well as mechanical vibration isolation. Acoustiblok is using the new Cadna-A Acoustical Prediction software in conjunction within field measurements to develop solutions to these Acoustical problems.
An oil platform is one of the most hostile environments on Earth, with corrosive salt spray, high winds, extremes of hot and cold, and of course petrochemicals and solvents - and any exposed material that is easily damaged by impact will not last long. Designed for harsh environments and industrial applications, Acoustiblok All Weather Sound Panels are the ideal solution for oil platform noise control. |
The Wheelabrator
With a working platform 60’ in the air, steam heating the pipes in excess of 350 degrees and the noise so loud that workers could not be heard, Acoustiblok was asked for suggestions. We suggested the use of our new high temperature Thermablok 1709 (rated to 1200 degrees F).
The pipes were first wrapped with insulation and then the entire package was wrapped with Acoustiblok. All the seams were secured with our “Iron Grip” Acoustigrip Tape. Workers said it was the quietest it had been in their 12 year history. Before and after sound reading showed an amazing reduction of 18 dB (a human ear perceived reduction of almost 70%). This success became even more amazing when the plant manager told us that the factory was running at nearly 50% greater capacity (creating more noise) than when the original reading were taken. So Broward County Florida is one more spot on the earth that is quieter because of Acoustiblok

Commercial Building and Office Installations
Acoustiblok® produces master rolls of 350 feet that cover 1,575 square feet and weigh 1600 lbs. The rolls have a diameter of 24.5" and are shipped 2 rolls per pallet.
Heavy Industry Applications
Attenuation of power generators presents quite a challenge. Acoustiblok® produces a 32-ounce per square foot product targeted primarily for the industrial client. Not only are the db readings very high with generators, but also the frequencies are often mid range demanding a very dense material for sound and vibration attenuation. Often we suggest a panel of two layers of 32 oz Acoustiblok® with 2-3 inches of dead air insulation space between the layers. These panels have been very effective in reducing the db numbers to desired levels.
The 32-ounce rolls are 100 ft in length, weigh 900 lbs and have a diameter of 20 inches.
