Utility Facilities Remediation

Just about every utilities facility will be challenged by noisy equipment. Electric motors, gas regulators, compressors, you name it and you can find one of the above or some other type of machine that contributes to the noisy environment. In these types of environments safety is of the upmost importance. Acoustiblok has U.L. classified products that will meet or exceed the standards that your EH&S Managers are looking for. Our Patented “All Weather Sound Panels” have one of the highest levels of performance, sustainability and versatility on the market. We virtually recreated this category in terms of treatment. They truly are in a class all their own. Our Acousti-Fence is a lifesaver and litigation saver! Quick installation, high performance and champagne on a beer budget! Our barrier systems on average help attenuate from 12-19dB,(depending on frequency spectra). Please feel free to contact us to speak with one of our utility facility specialists.

Power Plants

From dedicated power stations to backup power plants, Acoustiblok has resolved thousands of the noise issues associated with this industry. When you place a generator in a room, in between two buildings, or next to any type of wall or boundary, it typically makes the noise much worse in many ways. Not only can it be worse, but it also can create a new acoustical phenomenon that wasn’t there in the first place. Small acoustic enclosures, quilted blankets, fences, bushes, and louvered walls are par-for-the-course if you talk to most architects, builders and developers. The problem is that none of these things work well enough if you want to reduce the noise level radiating from a generator. This is a cold hard fact! We field more calls on a weekly basis on how to mitigate generator noise then anything else! And it just so happens we have the right products and design team to help you implement a successful solution.

The answer to generator noise is Acoustiblok’s All Weather Sound Panels (AWSP’s). AWSP’s are not just your run-of-the-mill barrier: they are a hybrid comprised of several layers of very different types of materials to give you the best of both worlds. They have filtering materials, absorption materials, and blocking materials in terms of attenuating noise. They are a mere 2” thick and can be any size within a maximum (4’x12’ footprint) shaped in a square or rectangle. AWSP’s can be erected into a fence in most cases to audibly and visually conceal your noisy gen-sets. Typically a 13-18 dB reduction of generator noise is the outcome for AWSP solutions (results will vary based on variables of the site, size of gen-set, & intensity of specific frequencies ranges radiating from the generator).

If you need a more economical solution, Acoustifence (AF-6) is the ticket. Acoustifence is an amazingly simple product. Acoustifence is a UV tolerant, flexible, mold resistant, reinforced ¼” thick material that has a STC of 28. It is used to block unwanted noise levels from reaching a particular point of complaints. All you need is a chain link fence and you are off and running. Acoustifence can have mounting grommets placed in the leading edges so you can strap it directly to your fence structure, (please reference our installation guidelines for specifics). Acoustifence is easy to disguise using our “landscapes” add on or by strategically placing some foliage in front of your Acoustifence.

Key points to remember on line of sight barriers

• Directional absorption/barrier systems
• Modular components
• 2” profile for tight fits.
• Patented “All Weather Sound Panel”
• No mold or mildew accumulation.
• HAWSP’s over 277 mph sustainable wind loads,(mounting system must be certified as well)

Water Treatment Facilities

Lets face it; giant pump motors make a lot of noise! And the noise they make we hear very well. We can all deal with some low frequency rumble or hums. But the whining of high frequency and the intense roar of midrange that is radiated off of large electric motors that run large water pumps is really annoying and could drive you crazy! This is what communities get to deal with all the time if they are unlucky enough to have a water treatment plant in close proximity of their homes. Since the frequencies are higher in nature they reflect very easily off of any type of surface that is hard and smooth. So typical barriers and even some so called acoustical barriers do not do a good job at reducing the sound level of these facilities. Acoustiblok has successfully treated hundreds and hundreds of electric motors around theses types of facilities. Our patented solutions will be there in some cases longer then the motors and pumps. Our boundary systems absorb sound with no reflections off of the panels facing your noise source. Our panels also have an STC of 30dB. That means they attenuate sound by 30 decibels at 500 hz through the 2” panel. A 10dB reduction would appear as half as loud to our ears! Our patented panels are the most sustainable, easiest to implement and have the highest level of performance then anything on the market!
